TBEC® can help you to put together a high school résumé to chronicle the highlights of your academic and extracurricular career. A high school résumé is a tool to market yourself, something to make you stand out from the others. Your résumé can be a tremendous asset when you create your college list, fill out applications, choose essay topics, meet with an interviewer, ask for recommendations, or apply for scholarships.
Colleges are interested in your scholastic and other achievements, awards, activities, athletics, leadership, community service, special talents and how you spent your time during high school. Since applying to college is competitive, a well-developed résumé can put you in a favorable position.
TBEC® offers you guidance on which teachers to ask for letters of recommendation and how to make these letters most effective. After checking the required and optional recommenders for each college to which you are applying, we help you to make a list of teachers, counselors, employers, and other adults whom you might ask to write letters of recommendation.
We also assist the student in writing excerpts of experiences in specific cases so that this, in turn, can help the student’s teachers write more effective letters. Some guidance or college counselors or advisors request that their students fill a brag sheet to assist them in writing their recommendations, and we work with you to draft these brag sheets or to create worksheets, as required.
In order to request personal recommendations, we guide you as you follow the process required, if at all, by your high school or assist you in making formal requests otherwise. Keeping the deadlines in mind, we work with you to ensure that recommendations are sought and followed up well in time.
